NTELS announced today that it has signed a deal worth of KRW 480 million with SK Telecom to develop an ATSC 3.0-compliant media edge platform. ATSC 3.0 is a UHD broadcasting standard.

The development project aims to upgrade the media edge platform developed by SK Telecom. NTELS will develop cloud-based virtualized media functions for broadcasting systems as well as a framework for workflow management and control.

JaeYoung Park, the executive director of NTELS, said, “Our ATSC 3.0-compliant media edge platform will play the role of an integrated BSS and OSS solution for next generation converged media services for the first time in the broadcasting industry. Through this project, we anticipate that 5G MEC and cloud technologies will help bring innovation in the media industry.” He also emphasized that the company aims to lead the digital transformation in the media sector through the active collaboration with SK Telecom and CAST.ERA.
