NCOMZ, a subsidiary of NTELS, announced today that it has signed a strategic MOU with Haksan Publishing, a leading content and publishing house in Korea, to collaborate on metaverse content creation and distribution by leveraging intellectual property (IP) assets, such as webtoons and web novels.

To create and distribute metaverse content based on webtoons and web novels, NCOMZ and Haksan will closely collaborate and make use of each other’s expertise in business model development and intellectual property, respectively.

NCOMZ offers innovative solutions and creative services in various areas, including AR and metaverse. It has conducted projects with Korean global companies, such as SK Telecom and Samsung Electronics and been expanding to the areas of metaverse, AR and live broadcasting.

Since its establishment in 1995, as a leading publishing house, Haksan has been publishing and distributing comics and creative works across multiple platforms, including online and offline channels. It is expected that the company will bring a whole new experience to readers by expanding to the metaverse content business based on intellectual property and other rights on webtoons and web novels.

SeongCheol Lee, the head of Digital Business Division at Haksan, said, “Through the collaboration between Haksan and NCOMZ on metaverse content, we anticipate to achieve synergy and benefit from each other’s expertise. We also expect our metaverse content to play an important role as a cash cow in the story-centric content market.”

JongHyun Nam, the head of EI Business at NCOMZ, said, “Through this MOU, we aim to create metaverse content by leveraging metaverse technology as well as webtoons and web novels that have a strong readership.” He also stressed that the collaboration will help set a new trend for metaverse content creation.
